Start Your 2015 Take Action Activity

Take Action activities are designed to help you eat better, move more and build lifelong healthy habits—all key steps toward improving your health, maintaining a healthy weight and lowering your risk for chronic conditions like heart disease. As an added bonus, you can earn $100 per activity (up to $200) when you participate in the 2015 Health Management program.

To get started, choose one of the six options below and follow the instructions to sign up.

CHALLENGES

Step It Up Challenge

Track your physical activity—like biking, basketball or exercise class—and easily convert it to steps until you reach the equivalent of 700,000 steps. Tracking is easy with your Fitbit (which syncs to StayWell’s site), a pedometer or the online activity conversion tool.

To sign up: Log in to ra.stayell.com and click the Step It Up button. You can record steps beginning on Jan. 1, even if you registered later.

Tip: Aim to walk or exercise the equivalent of 8,500 steps every day for 12 weeks.

Time Out For Health Challenge

Track the number of vegetable servings you eat each day until you reach 300 servings. Use a food log and then sign in to the StayWell website—once a day, once a week or as often as you like—to record your servings.

To sign up: Log in to StayWell’s website and click the Time Out For Health button.

Tip: Aim for four servings a day for about 12 weeks.

The Rockwell Automation Walking Challenge (New for 2015!)

Track your physical activity (and convert it to steps) using a printable walking map. This challenge is like Step It Up except you track your activity on a walking map/log sheet instead of online. You only need to log in to StayWell’s website twice—once to download a map and once to report that you’ve completed the challenge. (If you don’t want to log in a second time, you can check the completion box when you take the Health Risk Questionnaire later this fall during Annual Enrollment.) This is a great option for people who aren’t on or near a computer often.

To sign up: You don’t need to sign up in advance. Simply choose one of five challenges below, print the related map (available at ra.staywell.com starting Jan. 20) and follow the instructions to convert your activities into steps.

FITNESS EVENTS

Competitive Fitness Event

Complete a fitness event, such as a 5k run/walk, marathon, triathlon, bike event or swim event.

To sign up: You don’t need to sign up in advance. Simply participate in an event and log in to StayWell’s website to record it.

Tip: Double up! As you train for the event, why not track your activity with the Step It Up Challenge or Rockwell Automation Walking Challenge?

HEALTH COACHING

“Easy Start” Calls & Mailings

Complete three monthly phone calls with a StayWell professional health coach and receive three mailings designed to help you start a healthy habit. Choose this option if you’re not sure where to start. You and your coach will have a phone call to discuss your overall health, identify a simple goal and create a plan.

To sign up: Call the StayWell Helpline at 1.800.721.2696. Coaches are available Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon (all Central time).

Tip: Stick with it! Plan to complete this activity in about three months.

Phone Coaching

Work one-on-one with a StayWell health coach to meet a specific health goal. Choose this coaching option if you already have a goal in mind. Your coach will help you create an action plan and timeline, steer you to the right resources and offer overall support.

To sign up: Call the StayWell Helpline at 1.800.721.2696. Coaches are available Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon (all Central time).

Tip: Stick with it! Depending on your goal, this is a good activity to pair with either the Step It Up Challenge or Time Out for Health Challenge.
